Honokaa Ohana Page
Writings from Friends, Family and Visitors

I have received many emails from Honokaa residents, former residents, friends, relatives and visitors to this site. Here are exerpts from some of these letters. My replies are posted in italic type below some of them.
Mahalo to all of you for the kind words and comments. I will continue to develop this site to make it a valuable resource and distraction for you. If you want to add your comments to these pages, send them to macpro3000@yahoo.com. Aloha!

Great job done, on Honokaa, I love it.
Read and saw all the pictures, read about letters from people I have not seen, in ages. I used to live in Paauhau, with my sister Libby, Uncle Joe Kim, and our grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Kim, we lived in the first house above the baseball park, and small pond. I have good memories of Paauhau, and all the fun and games we used to play small kid time, when we never even had t.v. My grandparents and Uncle were the best. Now I only go to their grave site on special occasions., My husband refrees BIIF volleyball games , so I get to go to Honokaa School gym if he is assigned to officiate games, there, and try to see if I recognize anyone, or the names of the players on the roaster. Keep up the good work. I saw some names I recognize on your ohana page, and I will drop them e-mail.
Mahalo for this opportunity we have of sharing all of this. You are the best! rosemary kim dai yong hokoana.( if you come from Paauhau you would know my nickname is Rosita). God Bless.
Your comments are appreciated Rosita. The Ohana pages offer readers the opportunity to contact each other, though I cannot guarantee the accuracy of email addresses posted to these pages, especially those that are older. People often change their email addresses after switching ISPs or moving to a new community.

hi there
i am a honokaa high alum ... 1989. I do not really keep in touch with anyone from high school as i currently live in California. I am wondering if there will be a 15 year reunion this summer. I had never heard if there was a 10 year reunion in 1999 and would like to attend if there is on this year. Unfortunately, i am unable to get any infor as to whether one will occur and who to contact etc. Any info you could give me would be appreciated. If anyone could find this out, i'd expect it to be you since you are mr. honokaa. also, any idea how i could get a copy of the 1989 yearbook .... that would be awesome.
thanks for all the help.
scott
Anyone know about an upcoming Class of 1989 reunion, drop Scott or me a line. I can post reunion information on these pages.

It just dawned on me that there are two things missing in your Honoka'a Factoids: you don't mention Honoka'a's altitude, its height above sea level (I seem to recall it's rather up there, compared to Kona and Hilo, which are both at sea level), and you don't have any history information, stuff about the old-time religion, high chiefs, King Kamehameha, stuff like that. It doesn't have to be lengthy, just a sentence or two on each subject, with more links to Bishop Museum, or wherever.
Or did I somehow ignore one or two buttons on the Honoka'a home page?

Ron, as you probably know, every page on the internet is probably never done, and this site is no exception. I will provide the information requested on these pages at some point in the future. The idea for a history page is a good one too. I have to do some research into this. Aloha!
