Honokaa School... Elementary, Intermediate and High School. Anyone who grew up in Honokaa or the nearby communities of Ahualoa, Waimea, Kukuihaele, Kapulena, Haina, Paauhau, Kalopa and Paauilo eventually went to Honokaa High and Elementary School if they remained in the public school system. The school started in 1889 and celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 1989. A big parade was held that year (pictures forthcoming). Many people passed through Honokaa High School on their way to becoming prosperous and productive citizens. The school has seen its share of doctors, lawyers, politicians, civil servants, businessmen & businesswomen pass through it hallowed halls.

Today the school is split into two distinct campuses, Honokaa Elementary School which serves Grades K through 6 and Honokaa High & Middle School servicing Grades 7 through 12. The school mascot is the Honokaa Dragon.
