Street scene in Honokaa
This street scene could be straight from 1950 except that the cars are newer.

Welcome to the new black and white photos section of the Honokaa Town Photo Tour. The reason this section came into being is the fact that I was testing a new roll of Kodak T400 CN black and white film in my Minolta X-700 camera. Started the test roll in Honolulu and had more than half the roll to shoot before the parade. Since I wanted to shoot the parade in color and needed to finish off the black and white roll, I decided to just take a short walk halfway through town and take a bunch of snapshots to see what would turn out.

As you can see, shooting the town in black and white gives the place a different feel... making it seem somewhat more nostalgic than it really is. About the only thing that gives this away are the newer cars and the higher gas price signs. Otherwise some of these photos could pass for images straight out of 1950.

This black and white section was shot on July 1, 2000.
